We are pleased to be able to bring this often difficult to find speaker to our Central London store for permanent demonstration.
The Radialstrahler 101E Mk II is an omnidirectional speaker which means the sound radiates equally 360 degrees around. Far from the traditional design of loudspeakers. MBL say the reason behind this idea is to mimic the nature of the instruments in an orchestra which radiate the sound spherically so the whole room is vivified like a concert hall or jazz club. What you also have is a listening experience that leaves you every freedom to move around. You aren’t pinned to one position, with its unfirmed stimulation the Radialsrahler adapts its acoustics to your surroundings.
It is obviously a very beautiful speaker but what really impressed us straight away was the build quality and attention to detail. It is often said that German engineering is the best in the world and this is a great example of that. Its so well thought out and every component is built to last.
At first listen we found the sound to be staggering. As promised by MBL, the atmosphere these speakers give is incredible. The instruments (particularly string) had fantastic texture. The bass is deep and controlled and the mid-range is detailed. Overall, it is a very easy speaker to get lost in. It is a an experience that is well worth seeking out.
