As you may be aware, last month we announced that we had become the first London store to stock the reference Stax electrostatic headphones, SR-009, and their little brothers the SR-007s.
We have now added to our Stax stock with their latest products, the SRS-5100 combination, which comprises of the new SR-L500 and SRM-353X energiser.
The SR-L500 ‘earspeakers’ are the most recent addition to the world famous ‘Lambda’ range which Stax first introduced almost 40 years ago. The fact that this range is still being manufactured and adapted is a testament to how much of a breakthrough product they have been for so many years. Since their introduction, Stax have become a name synonymous with high-end headphones.
SR-L500 has been developed from the previous SR-507 model and features improvements to the enclosure design and the high performance pure copper HiFC™ developed by Hitachi, which is utilised in the core wires. HiFC has various advantages, including similar sonic characteristics as used in the SR-009 6N high purity 99.99999% copper wires.
These headphones have been matched with the new SRM-353X energiser which is a solid state energizer that now includes XLR inputs. By using carefully selected high quality audiophile grade parts, Stax have been able to further improve tonal quality, and achieve a wider frequency response through a complete re-examination of the circuitry.
This combination is a perfect match. If you are looking at finding the true Stax ‘Lambda’ sound, this is what you need to be listening to. They give a beautifully natural and spacious sound that is very difficult to find with headphones. Stax make it seem so effortless.
