We have just received the brand new and stunning Reference 6 pre-amplifier from the high-end amplification specialists Audio Research. The Ref 6 is now available for demonstration in our Central London based audio showroom.
Those aware of the Audio Research range will instantly recognise that the aesthetic of this pre-amp has been updated with the new sleek design of the recent ‘G’ Series. This has to be one of the best looking pieces of equipment in our whole showroom. As well as being easy on the eye, also provides more structural rigidity to assist in the dissipation of electrical and mechanical interferences.
With the Reference 6, Audio Research has been aiming high. According to Warren Gehl, who is responsible for sonic development of all Audio Research products, the new series of Reference amplifiers offer a level of musical and dynamic capability only made apparent when using the flagship, two-chassis Reference 10 preamplifier. Both preamplifiers of the Reference Series need the ability to provide the full benefit of this new sonic landscape. Increasing the tube count to six in the analogue section, and advancements in the power supply improved both macro- and microdynamics and lowered distortion.
When compared with the Reference 5SE the 6 offers improved control of the bass, enhanced detail and more dimension and space around the music.
